HR MANAGEMENT

Many medium sized and smaller businesses need someone to manage they’re HR but they are simply not big enough to warrant a full time HR person, the result is they get by!  This is OK until something goes wrong and then they find they don’t have the right things in place to either have avoided the problem or to correct and deal with the problem.  They realise too late that they need an HR Manager.  But they can’t afford one, so what’s the solution, we are!

We can be your HR Manager, two days a month, a day a week, or more if need be.  This saves you the cost of a full-time person and the cost of getting things wrong.  Let’s be honest, the cost of defending a Tribunal can be crippling, even if you win or the other side pull out before the hearing.

There are schemes out there that you can purchase via a monthly fee and a lengthy contractwhere you can call for help.  But can a call centre jockey replace a hands-on HR professional that knows your business, and it will cost the same or less and you have someone that knows your business and your people who can prevent problems not just give remote advice after the fan gets hit.

ADVICE AND SUPPORT

We frequently get calls from businesses that have a specific proble: a disciplinary they are not sure how to handle; some changes to staff are managed; recruitment or redundancy, etc.

These businesses sometimes have an HR person who needs some outside advice to check on how to handle a situation or, they are overloaded and need some short-term input on a project basis or may be they don’t have experience in a specific area and need expert input.

Sometimes the business doesn’t have an HR person and they want help through a particular issue.

We can help, the initial meeting will be free as we establish what the issue is and then we will make a suggestion for a way forward.  This we offer both independently and also in partnership with John A Roberts & Co Accountants for their clients.

HR HEALTH CHECK

This provides an independent review of your current policies and practices and makes suggestions to ensure that they comply with current and future legislation and best practice.

DEVELOPING AND IMPLEMENTING NEW POLICIES

Many businesses as they grow need to formalise processes or they are required to have policies they previously haven’t had due to tendering or contracting requirements.  Getting policies that are right for your business and that works is not straightforward.  Off-the-shelf policies or those pinched from somewhere else rarely work and are a waste of time and will cause problems.

We can work with you to draft simple but effective policies that you will find beneficial, call us and see if we can help.

COACHING SENIOR STAFF

Your senior management can utilise an ILM (Institute for Leadership and Management) and SEFDI (Government Approved body setting the standards for Business Support and Business Enterprise) approved adviser to help them develop their skills and their business.

A recently completed 2-year project with Business Link delivered this to a significant number of local businesses in a specific council area.  Many business leaders welcome the opportunity to share and discuss their ideas with someone objective and external to their business who can ask those critical questions.  This will commence with a review of the business and identifying the squeeze points that if tackled will allow the business to move forward.
